If someone got around to removing all the extra textures from these mods and began using redundant textures it might work with steam. As a note, the armor textures (which I've reoptimized) take up nearly half the filesize and don't compress as well under a zip than plain text or other text resources. I am really hesitant to start removing armors and weapons as it will cause a lot of conflicts and bugs that I really don't feel like fixing. It's really just down to the gameplay and the number of armor textures. This is with things like removing 100+ textures, reoptimizing textures from 2010, converting wav files to ogg, removing music, resources, skyboxes, objects, and so on in order to cut down on the filesize limit.
